How To Make A Big Impact When Decorating A Small Girls Room

For your little girl to have a place of her own, theres no room like her own bedroom, so it’s no surprise you want it to have terrific design style. But how can you make a small girls room seem big on style? Fortunately, there are plenty of room design methods you can use to make decorating a small girls room easy!

Use an interior design style which you will like, but also one that can help to make your space feel bigger. Too much clutter will make your girls room look cramped so avoid purchasing a lot of accessories and be positive you have ample storage to put stuff away.

Remember, when you are decorating a small girls room to plan out where you are arranging the accessories and furniture. Even if some people dismiss the qualities of Feng Shui, the principle behind it can still be used when placing the accessories and furniture in your girls room. Keep furniture away from the doors, as you’d be surprised how clear access to and from a room can make it feel bigger. Also, if you can focus the eye on the bigger pieces like a big poster or canopy, it should help the room seem less small.

If you stick with a certain design approach, then you can plan from the beginning on how to make good use of the girls rooms space. You might try selecting a contemporary decorating scheme since this will make the room appear more spacious. Because this is the place for your little girl to dream and grow going for a design style you enjoy and can live with is desired.

When it comes to using furniture in the room, try and keep to small or medium sized pieces. Rather than having a full size bed, try using a single canopy bed which will allow for a cute look and good nights sleep and also make the room look more spacious. It makes sense to add appeal to your girls room by mixing in selected larger scaled items, so mix your small bed, include a large lush canopy- it is able to make the room appear sizeable and also add interest and appeal.

If you want to paint your girls room, then the paint color that you adopt tend to play an integral role in making it appear bigger. You’ve perhaps been told that the lighter colors make a room look larger and dark colors make it seem smaller, however it’s truly a bit more complex than that. You should be able to have color and still make the girls room appear bigger by decorating with colors that show equal brightness, or sticking with a monochromatic decorating scheme. You might try a pumpkin decorating theme, or if you need more color go with brown and pumpkin that all have an equal intensity and tone. To add a unique characteristic, consider painting an opposing wall a deep, intense shade – this makes it feel further away plus adds a unique atmosphere. A gray-blue tone is great for overall style and for also making the walls seem to recede, thus making the room feel less small. If gray isn’t your favorite shade, you can also put on cool colors such as purples and blues which will yield the same appearance.

These techniques allow decorating a small girls room to be easy and effortless. Certainly, there are many design ideas that you could use into making even the most cramped of spaces give the illusion of the equivalent to those in larger houses – it simply takes some creativity.

Game Room Decor and Furniture For Your Man Cave

So you’re building up your man-cave, huh? Like Sam Adams beer, this is always a good decision: every slightly-educated human male is aware that a dedicated area of the home designed specifically for him is essential to a man’s happiness…. as essential as poker, Sportscenter, and chicks in bikinis.

And while one of the man-caves specific purposes is to play the role of “Fortress of Solitude,” it’s also intended to be the ideal hang-out for you and all your other poker-playing, beer-drinking, Sportscenter-watching buddies.

The only problem? Each one of these poker-playing, beer-drinking, Sportscenter-watching buddies has a man-cave of their own. So you’ll need the top game room decor and supplies in order to make your man-cave better than the rest.

First step: Television. BIG television. In those horrible years called the 90’s, when a big-screen TV had a caboose the size of a Volkswagon, the options of where and how big your television would be were limited, and sometimes dictated, by the architecture of your room. With flat-screens the norm these days, you can hang a High-Definition screen almost any place.

No matter what goes on in your man-cave or what the situation, the activity in the room will always flow around the television. Picking the right one, as well as the right location for it, is brutally essential.

(On a different note, don’t spring the extra dough for 3-D channels. Avatar might have been cool, but you and all your friends sitting in the basement wearing goofy glasses is not.)

Once you’ve got the television in place, you should probably add a couple gaming tables. The ideal one is poker, since it’s a group activity. Ping pong tables, pinball machines, air hockey, foosball… all fun games, and certainly worth looking into. But Poker can encompass the largest amount of players at once, and isn’t that the point?

While you’re at it, pick up a custom poker chip set, some fancy new card decks, and any other poker table supplies you may need. The more professional your supplies, the more professional your game… and the more your friends will want to be included.

Folding chairs for the poker table is perfect. They’re easy to move and adjust, which is important when there isn’t enough room on your couch (Did we not mention the couch? Yeah, you’re gonna need a couch. A BIG, comfy couch).

There’s also the issue of art. After all, just because we are men, doesn’t make us savages. We deserve a little bit of class, and some tasteful, tactful art on the wall can be just the thing.

Most guys will go straight for a centerfold cut-out of their favorite supermodel. This is a classic mistake. Remember, you’re just a share-cropper…. using the bit of land generously given to you by the true Master of the Land (i.e. your wife or girlfriend). And “The Boss” may not be too happy seeing life-sized photos of gorgeous girls in tiny tops draped around the wall.

A good substitute when looking for ‘art’ to act as game room decor for your man-cave is signed sports memorabilia. Just putting up a pennant or poster seems childish. But if you’ve got an autograph on it, that not only ups the amount of class, it adds a conversation piece you can stick your chest out and boast about…. All while keeping the true Master happy.

Also, fluorescent signs from beer companies are always cool… but a little overused. That bright-green Heineken sign you’ve had since High School looked pretty sick in your dorm room, but now it’s just too bright, too annoying, and too often seen in other places. Buy something original, won’t you?

Bring the Magic Kingdom Home to Her With Disney Princess Room Decor

There’s no shortage of Disney Princesses to inspire a little girl’s custom theme bedroom. Here is a rundown of just some of Disney’s most popular princesses and related elements of their magic kingdoms to help you design girls room decor that will delight the little princess who lives in your castle:

Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs:

A Snow White themed Disney princess room might have a foresty decor – with trees and floral meadows under a bright and yellow sunny sky, happy and friendly forest creatures like deer and bunnies dancing around, and let’s not forget the seven lovable dwarfs. And don’t forget the magic mirror on the wall to make sure she always knows that she’s the fairest of them all.

Ariel from The Little Mermaid:

A Princess Ariel themed girls room decor would have an undersea design – with watery shades of blue punctuated by bubbles, and colorful coral. Ariel’s oceanic friends – fish, crabs, and seahorses (among others) – can accent the room and flesh out the fantasy even further, either as a wall mural or wall hanging, area rug, or throw pillow. Speaking of throw pillows, seashells and clamshells would also make terrific throw pillow designs, as they would lampshades for a floor lamp or table lamp. You can even consider including a real live aquarium in the room so your little Ariel can share her love, and her kingdom, with her own vibrant sea life.

Cinderella from Cinderella:

A Cinderella themed Disney princess room decor would have your little girl feeling like the belle of the ball. Design the room like a ballroom, with an imitation parquet floor below her dancing feet and a fancy faux-chandelier casting sparkling light down upon her tiara. Flowing fabrics, reflective surfaces, and glittering accents all add to the aura of majesty and transformation redolent of this delightful fairy tale. Accents can include a glass slipper – perhaps as a lamp or a wall hanging – and a pumpkin coach – either as a beanbag chair, a papysan or other elaborate seating, as a unique wardrobe design, or even as the design for her custom bed at the room’s centerpiece.

Princess Jasmine from Aladdin:

With a Princess Jasmine themed room design, you can give your little girl “a whole new world” to live in and make all her nights Arabian nights. Her walls or floor coverings could have the yellow and tan colors of rolling sand dunes, while you speckle the room with unique childrens furniture in the bright and vivid colors of a bustling marketplace. Just don’t forget a magic lamp for her own private genie to live inside, and a magic carpet beneath her for her take a soaring ride through a dream-filled landscape any time she desires.

Pocahontas from Pocahontas:

A Pocahontas themed girls room decor would have a Native American flavor. Drawing inspiration from the old American southwest, you can use Native American rugs on the floor and on the walls as well. An eagle or hawk can fly overhead in the form of a mobile or a model or a wall hanging. Terra cottas, tans, browns and reds can mingle with a green landscape. A waterfall into a rolling river might make a great mural on one wall, while a tall stuffed toy horse stands in the opposite corner. Feathers, arrowheads, and petroglyphs all make excellent accents for this style of kids bedroom decor.

At the centerpiece of all of these rooms, whether your little girl prefers Snow White, Princess Ariel, Cinderella, Princess Jasmine, Pocahontas, or any of the other many inspiring princesses from Disney’s fairy tales will be, of course, a custom girls bed to complete the fantasy made real. With such a custom theme bed as the hallmark of your little girl’s Disney Princess room, she’ll feel like royalty in her own magic kingdom awake and asleep, all day and all night.
